Short-lived herbaceous perennial trefoil that displays dark pink flowers attractive to bees. Valued for its nitrogen fixating abilities as a fodder crop, red clover is additionally high in antioxidants and iron. An extensive root system facilitates growth in a range of soil pH. Tolerates cold well once established, but does not do well with highly saturated soil. Grows approximately 24” and is most productive when planted in spring or fall (depending on climate). An excellent source of mineral/iron supplementation for tortoises.
